OUP\xe2\x80\x99s Academic Division publishes world-leading digital book and reference products including Oxford Scholarship Online and the Oxford Research Encyclopedias. Purchased by libraries and delivered via our best-in-class Oxford Academic platform, these products aim to deliver academic content to researchers when, and how, they need it.

We are looking for an Associate Product Marketing Manager to own the successful launch of new products and services to a range of internal and external audiences. You\xe2\x80\x99ll be at the heart of the product development process, becoming an expert on our products, customer personas, market opportunities, and the competitive landscape.

What you\xe2\x80\x99ll be doing

You\xe2\x80\x99ll work closely with our product team to develop positioning, messaging and marketing strategies for a product portfolio. You\xe2\x80\x99ll create launch plans and work with marketing colleagues to deliver them, working collaboratively to drive demand and usage. You\xe2\x80\x99ll also ensure that sales and other customer facing teams have the language and tools they need to successfully land products in the market.

This role is ideally suited to someone who wants to be at the forefront of our strategy and mission, gaining valuable experience of working with a wide range of functions across the publishing process.

Activities will include:

  • Developing a deep understanding of your product portfolio and its audiences, to become the subject matter expert for the sales and marketing teams
  • Developing and implementing product marketing strategies, aligned to business priorities, taking a data-driven and experimental approach to ensure success
  • Advocating for external stakeholder needs in the product development process, whilst navigating multiple priorities to drive the best outcome for each product
  • Taking complex ideas and/or technical developments, and creating a compelling brand and story to take to market, ensuring it is consistently used across all channels
  • Developing and implementing successful marketing campaigns, including budget management and reporting on success
We operate a hybrid working policy that requires 2 days a week in the Oxford office. In this role, the set day you will be expected in the office is a Tuesday.

About you:

Essential:
  • Ability to engage audiences though creative and compelling marketing stories and campaigns
  • Ability to be proactive and work independently, asking questions of yourself and those around you to ensure the best outcome for the projects/products you work on
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, including the ability to make and maintain connections across teams
  • Strong problem-solving skills, being able to analyse a problem and implement creative solutions
  • Ability to think strategically about products and markets, understanding where we are now and where we want to be, and then translating that into tactical success
  • Ability to think outside of your role and immediate remit to advocate for your products and their stakeholders
Desirable:
  • Experience of academic publishing and an understanding of the institutional research landscape
  • Experience of product marketing, and an understanding of product development lifecycles, and the ability to represent user and customer needs
  • Analytical skills with experience in using data analysis to inform and improve marketing campaigns and/or product propositions
