About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an Associate Mechanical Engineer to join our Operational Assets team in London.
You will work alongside a highly experienced group of engineers and consultants who specialise in assessing, improving, and optimising building services within existing buildings across the UK and Europe. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys technical problem-solving, client engagement, and overseeing projects from early feasibility through to completion.
Working closely with the Team Leader, you will deliver mechanical engineering consultancy services, prepare technical documentation, and support the smooth delivery of refurbishment, upgrade, and replacement projects.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the technical delivery of mechanical design services across multi-disciplinary projects.
Produce high-quality design deliverables, including specifications, drawings, schedules, and reports.
Provide strategic technical advice on the operation and optimisation of mechanical systems within existing buildings.
Prepare fee proposals and support commercial management, including invoicing and WIP tracking.
Deliver refurbishment and upgrade projects from inception through completion.
Undertake condition surveys and produce detailed assessments with recommendations.
Develop feasibility studies for mechanical and electrical infrastructure upgrades.
Support technical due diligence assessments for acquisitions or redevelopment.
Ensure all work complies with UK/EU regulations, relevant design standards, and best practice guidance.
Review development and fit-out proposals and advise clients on mechanical services implications.
Maintain strong communication with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless delivery.
Mentor and support junior members of the team, including apprentices and graduates.
About You
Strong experience as a Mechanical Engineer within building services or a closely related discipline.
Proven delivery of complex refurbishment or existing-building projects.
Solid understanding of UK building services regulations, guidance, and technical standards.
Experience with modern design tools, including BIM and Revit.
Comfortable working directly with clients, contractors, and design teams.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly.
Confident working both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Experience mentoring early-career engineers.
Chartered Engineer (CEng) or actively working toward chartership.
