Position Summary:
Are you eager to start your career in product management within a supportive and innovative team? We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Associate Product Specialist to join our dynamic EDM (Enterprise Data Management) Product Strategy Team in London. This is an exciting entry-level opportunity where you'll learn from experienced professionals and contribute to delivering high-value solutions in a fast-paced environment. You'll focus on supporting the team in gathering product requirements, drafting user stories, maintaining product backlogs, and coordinating Agile processes. Key Responsibilities:
Support Requirement Gathering:
Assist in documenting business and technical requirements by participating in client and internal stakeholder workshops.
Document & Refine:
Help document and validate business, functional, and non-functional requirements, learning to ensure they are clear and testable.
Agile Participation:
Actively participate in and learn about Agile/Scrum events including Sprint Planning, Backlog Refinement, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives.
Vendor Data Familiarization:
Work closely with the team to understand how we collaborate with leading financial data vendors (e.g., Bloomberg, LSEG, SIX, ICE) and assist in tasks related to field mapping to our EDM Data Model.
Track & Update:
Help monitor vendor schema updates and assist in updating mapping documentation and articulating these changes through user stories under guidance.
UI/UX Collaboration:
Support UI/UX designers by providing input for user experience artifacts like wireframes and mock-ups.
Draft User Stories:
Learn to draft clear User Stories and associated acceptance criteria with guidance from senior team members.
Project Support:
Assist the team with project estimation, planning, execution, and project management tasks.
Testing Support:
Contribute to writing test cases, participate in UAT (User Acceptance Testing), and help identify and raise issues or bugs.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with development and QA teams, helping to translate business needs into software specifications and supporting testing efforts to ensure quality.
Documentation Assistance:
Contribute to building business cases and developing client-facing documentation such as user guides and release notes.
Communication Bridge:
Act as a supporting liaison to facilitate clear communication between business and technology teams.
Change Request Support:
Assist in reviewing client change requests, participating in meetings, and helping to capture key decisions and actions.
Qualifications & Experience We're Looking For:
0-2 years of experience in a role with exposure to product analysis, business analysis, or technology (internships, relevant university projects, or entry-level positions).
A strong desire to learn and develop a career in product management.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an emerging ability to articulate concepts to various audiences.
Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and diagramming tools like Visio (or similar) is important for documentation and communication.
An interest in or basic understanding of Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum) - we'll help you develop this!
Good organizational skills with the ability to manage tasks and an eagerness to learn project management.
Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative team player.
Analytical mindset with an attention to detail.
Familiarity with or willingness to learn business analysis techniques (e.g., how to identify gaps, use case modelling).
Experience with or aptitude to quickly learn tools like Azure DevOps (ADO), Confluence, or SharePoint.
Any exposure to data querying languages like SQL is a bonus, but not required.
Interest in Enterprise Data Management (EDM) or the financial industry is advantageous, but a passion for learning is most important.
Ability to adapt to new information and changing environments.
A proactive and enthusiastic approach to work.
Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Technology, Product Management, or equivalent practical experience.
