Purpose of the Role





The Production Engineer is positioned between production and the business with a focus on two main areas:




Support the manufacturing and production teams by resolving challenges quickly and efficiently to ensure that the flow of product delivery is maintained. To look to improve our products and capabilities by developing processes, consulting engineering and finding new ways to improve our capabilities. Support New Product Integration (NPI) into the business. You will represent production throughout the lifecycle of new products, supporting all areas of the business such as engineering, program management and quality to help best achieve a successful and efficient product delivery from concept into production.



Principle Accountabilities



1) Production Support & Problem Solving





Production Engineering are the first-line support for manufacturing and production teams, resolving technical and process-related issues swiftly to maintain uninterrupted product flow.


Regularly check in with build teams to understand their needs and offer support. Help track and address Improvement Logs raised by the production team, supporting changes to design, tooling, or drawings under supervision. Support the correction of non-conformances related to tooling, documentation, or product design, with guidance from senior staff. Participate in 8D investigations with the Production and Quality teams, learning problemsolving techniques.



2) Process Improvement & Capability Development





Identify opportunities to enhance product quality, manufacturing efficiency, and operational capabilities through process development, engineering consultation, and innovation.


Identify and suggest opportunities to improve product quality, manufacturing efficiency, and operational capabilities, sharing ideas with senior engineers. Assist in developing equipment and tooling to improve production efficiencies and quality, under direction.



3) New Product Integration (NPI)





Represent production throughout the lifecycle of new products, ensuring smooth integration from concept to full-scale manufacturing.


Support the integration of new products into production by assisting with tasks throughout the product lifecycle, under the guidance of experienced team members. Help coordinate DFM (Design for Manufacture), DFA (Design for Assembly), and DFT (Design for Test) activities as directed. Assist with PFMEA (Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis) and help translate programme delivery requirements into operational plans. Support the build of prototype units and help identify resource or equipment constraints, escalating issues as needed. Provide feedback into the programme for alignment, as appropriate for your experience level. Help manage test and validation activities for design changes, ensuring requirements are met with oversight.



4) Cross-Functional Collaboration





Work closely with engineering, programme management, and quality teams to align production needs with design intent and delivery goals.

5) Continuous Improvement





Contribute to ongoing improvement initiatives by analysing production data, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing corrective actions.

6) Technical Documentation & Feedback





Provide feedback on design for manufacturability and maintain accurate documentation to support production readiness and scalability.

Help migrate existing document packages to new formats and update electronic documentation in the MES system for new and existing products. Support the creation and updating of production build and test instructions




Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience






Be able to work efficiently and autonomously. Have high attention to detail and pride in your work. Good communication skills. Can use typical office software; Outlook, Excel, Word, Power point. Ability to use CAD is beneficial Knowledge of design processes and layouts Engineering degree or equivalent experience (Hardware and/or Electrical). Some knowledge and understanding of electro-mechanical products is beneficial. Some knowledge of manufacturing processes is useful; including machined components, PCBA, build assembly. Understanding of electronic equipment design, build and test processes.
