About the role
Brighton & Sussex Medical School (BSMS) is inviting applications for the post of Associate Professor in Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics (Honorary Consultant Physician). We are specifically seeking an enthusiastic clinical pharmacologist who is innovative in their approach to teaching and learning and also interested in research. An interest in clinical pharmacology education and an established academic track record in this subject area is advantageous.
The post is offered in association with University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust (UHSussex) where the successful applicant will hold an honorary consultant contract, with main clinical work conducted at the Princess Royal Hospital, Haywards Heath and Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton sites with the potential for cross-site working.
About you
The successful applicant will be a dually accredited physician in clinical pharmacology and therapeutics (CPT) and general internal medicine and will have some expertise in medical/CPT education at all levels, including in CPT higher specialist training. Ideally, they will have experience within the following range of activities: curriculum design and development, assessment, simulation, digital learning and inter-professional education.
The successful applicant will also be research active as this will be a significant aspect of their scholarship role at BSMS.
From an academic perspective, this post will be based in the Department of Medical Education at BSMS. The ongoing development of BSMS, especially with undergraduate and postgraduate curricula and planned expansion, requires appropriately qualified clinical academic staff to contribute to maintaining BSMS high educational standards and to further develop our course and student experience.
