The School of Humanities and Social Sciences in the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Greenwich is seeking to appoint an Associate Professor in Sociology. The School is based at the historic world heritage site of the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich. We have a strong interdisciplinary ethos and the School prides itself on the support provided to students throughout their studies, enhancing their knowledge, skill set, confidence and employability. The successful candidate will hold a PhD in Sociology or a relevant Social Science discipline, Postgraduate teaching qualification or equivalent and Minimum of Fellow of HEA or significant teaching experience.

We are looking for an Associate Professor who will provide leadership of learning, teaching and research activity in Sociology. The successful candidate will be expected to teach on our Sociology and Social Policy programmes, to provide operational leadership and management within the School in due course and maintain strong stakeholder relationships at regional, national and international level across teaching or their subject-related discipline.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach on our Sociology single honours and combined honours programmes, contributing to the successful delivery of team-taught modules and leading curriculum development of postgraduate provision in Sociology. Candidates should have expertise in one or more of the following areas: quantitative or mixed method research; sociology of work; racial and ethnic studies; social justice and inclusion.

The successful candidate should be actively engaged in research and knowledge exchange activities that will contribute to the Centre for Communities and Social Justice, the Faculty and University strategies, helping to develop our national and international profile. They will have strong stakeholder relationships at regional, national and international levels in the discipline, and should have expertise which complements and extends our current provision.

Candidates must have excellent communication skills and experience of successfully delivering high-quality teaching.
