You will be responsible for managing the peer review process, making editorial decisions, and working closely with authors to ensure the publication of impactful and high-quality research. This role offers an exciting opportunity to stay at the forefront of scientific advancements and to contribute to the dissemination of cutting-edge research.ResponsibilitiesAssess submitted research papersOversee the peer review process for direct submissions and transferred contributionsEstablish relationships with researchersRecruit exciting research papers for submission to iScienceCommission review contentRepresent the journal and Cell Press at scientific meetings, and visit research institutionsWork collaboratively with academic editorial board members and editorsBuild effective working relationships with colleagues across Cell Press and beyondRequirementsPhD in a life science discipline, preferably with expertise in Microbiology and post-doctoral experience is a plusPrevious editorial experience is desirable but not required. We are open to hiring at more senior levels for candidates with appropriate experienceBroad scientific interests, a desire to learn, and the ability to think critically about a wide range of scientific issues. As an associate scientific editor, you will need to develop an understanding of the diverse areas covered by the journal, as well as be open to exciting emerging topicsGreat interpersonal skills.
