Join our operations team in Glasgow as an Associate Scientist.


We are looking for two Associate Scientists to join our Operations team, focusing primarily on molecular biology at Sartorius Stedim BioOutsource Ltd. In this role, you will be responsible for performing a range of laboratory activities to support client projects using biosafety ,biophysical and bioanalytical assays and ensure GMP compliance at all times.


The team consists of 12 professionals and we are looking forward to shaping the future with you.


This position is available full time on a permanent basis. It is an on-site role at our Technology Terrace site, West of Scotland Science Park in Glasgow.

Grow with us - Your Responsibilities



On a daily basis you will be performing laboratory work and a range of techniques and methods, primarily related to molecular methods, but may also include cell-based assays, protein characterization for a range of biological products like monoclonal antibodies, cell and gene therapy products, vaccines and more under GMP conditions Ensuring smooth running of laboratory work and assist with stock control eg.: ordering stock, checking materials and reagents are available and within date to perform the work in a timely manner Completing documentation to a defined standard, ensuring traceability of samples, reagents and equipment Preparing and reviewing documentation including material specifications, SOPs, change controls, risk assessments Maintaining the laboratory and ensuring compliance at all times to GxP regulations In time, there is a progression pathway to Scientist, with opportunities to engage in study documentation preparation, client contact, proactive research, and problem-solving, potentially leading to positions as Study Directors or Managers responsible for regulatory compliance

What will convince us



HNC in scientific discipline or BSc or MSc in biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, molecular biology, immunology, genetics or related disciplines Experience in molecular biology techniques such as qPCR, Sanger sequencing, DNA/RNA extraction, Southern Blotting during practical studies in a university laboratory setting would be beneficial however full training will be provided Experience with SPR and HPLC would be desirable Experience with calibrating instruments, preparing reagents and media, cell culture and inventory control Ability to follow correct procedures (SOPs) and quality standards, such as GMP or GLP Good communication and written skills and the ability to interact with other departments Good organizational skills with the ability to multi - task, prioritize and manage own workload Good attention to detail, adaptable and flexible Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
