Associate / Senior Associate

London, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

Join our specialist Leasehold Enfranchisement team in London, where you'll work on a broad range of transactions.

The role

From individual leaseholders to large estates, universities, developers, and NHS Trusts, you'll gain exposure to high-quality work and collaborate on both individual matters and larger projects.

You'll be supported by experienced professionals including Tim Wild (Principal Associate), Clive Levontine (Consultant), and work closely with partners Victoria Davies and Amanda Tagg in the Residential Property team. The team forms part of our national Real Estate Service Line, led by Vincenzo Maggio, offering opportunities to contribute to wider firm initiatives and cross-functional projects.

This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your expertise in a collaborative, client-focused environment.

The person

We would be pleased to receive applications from all those with between 2 and 5 years' PQE. You will have experience of leasehold enfranchisement and other related matters gained in a firm with a quality Real Estate / leasehold enfranchisement team.

We're looking for someone with strong written and verbal communication skills, a logical and proactive approach to problem-solving, and a keen eye for detail. You'll be a collaborative team player with excellent time management, IT literacy, and a genuine enthusiasm for building client relationships and supporting business development.

The activities

In this role, you'll advise on a broad spectrum of leasehold enfranchisement matters, including statutory claims under the Leasehold Reform Acts of 1967 and 1993, right to manage applications under the 2002 Act, and right of first refusal under the 1987 Act. You'll also handle voluntary lease extensions, deeds of variation, and property management issues related to freehold acquisitions and right to manage claims.

Your work will involve advising clients on ground rent investments and the acquisition and disposal of property portfolios, acting for both buyers and sellers. You'll provide guidance on leasehold enfranchisement risks and rights during property transactions and contribute to larger real estate projects where enfranchisement issues arise.

You'll collaborate closely with the residential property team on leasehold-related sales and purchases, and support other departments--including Real Estate, Real Estate Disputes, Family, and Private Client--on matters involving leasehold enfranchisement. Additionally, you'll be involved in tribunal and court proceedings related to these areas.

You'll also attend ALEP conferences and networking events, helping to build both your personal reputation and the firm's profile within the leasehold enfranchisement sector.

Please ensure you read the job description below for full details on the role.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient applications for the role. Therefore, if you are interested, please submit your application as early as possible.

The benefits

As you'd expect, we offer a competitive salary and a wide range of benefits.

Pre employment screening

If we offer you a role, we will conduct comprehensive pre-employment screening. This screening will include, but is not limited to, a basic DBS, verification of your right to work, a three year employment history and a self-declaration to assess your character and suitability for the role. Full details of our pre-screening employment process are available upon request.
