About the job


The Computer Graphics team is looking for an Associate Software Developer to collaborate with other dedicated engineers who are equally passionate about data visualization and committed to delivering high-quality software.

Our team is dedicated to designing and developing data visualization libraries optimized for portability and seamless integration across diverse SAS applications, including Model Studio, Visual Analytics, Mobile BI for iOS and Android, Customer Intelligence, Intelligent Decisioning, and Data Maker. These solutions are utilized across multiple industries and diverse use cases, requiring our teams to address complex challenges related to code generation, parallel computing, memory optimization, user interface design, networking, database management, and algorithm development.

As an Associate Software Developer (C++), you will:

Design and develop high quality, testable and scalable software solutions within established timelines while adhering to R&D best practices and processes. Actively involve other project stakeholders (e.g. managers, developers, user interface and visual designers, product managers) to ensure implementation satisfies functional requirements and is consistent with established R&D standards. Participate in project scoping and scheduling; track progress of individual tasks and alerts stakeholders of issues blocking or preventing completion of task. Ensure quality through functional, unit and performance testing; work closely with testing by providing thorough reviews of the test plan and communicate when updates to the plan should be made to cover code changes related to enhancements, redesigns and/or bug fixes. Maintain accountability for the entire life cycle of the code including support for both internal and external consumers. In collaboration with technical writers, authors have an appropriate level of design and technical documentation that satisfies both internal and external consumers Assist in designing, developing, and maintaining data visualization frameworks and libraries using C++. Work with senior developers to implement technical requirements, help identify and fix bugs, contribute to testing, and support feature enhancements under guidance. Support the development and maintenance of automated quality assurance and performance analysis tools. Help provide support to internal users by contributing to API documentation, code samples, and technical presentations. Gain experience in developing cross-platform C++ libraries and data visualization solutions, working closely with experienced engineers

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience). Some experience with software development, preferably in C++ (coursework or internships welcome). Basic understanding of development tools, IDEs, and general programming principles. Familiarity with GitHub, Jira, or other common software workflow tools is a plus. Interest in learning and following standard development practices. Exposure to writing or running automated tests through projects or academic work Strong communication skills and willingness to collaborate with team members Eagerness to grow technical expertise, seek feedback, and improve coding skills. Interest or coursework in computer graphics or data visualization is an asset. Equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.
