About the Role
We're looking for a highly motivated Associate Software Engineer to join our growing engineering team. This is an ideal opportunity for someone early in their career who's eager to build robust software and work on modern continuous integration workflows that support scalable, high-quality development.
In this role, you'll be contributing to both the development of our applications and the automation of our build, test, and deployment pipelines. You'll work alongside developers, QA engineers, and cloud infrastructure teams to create reliable, maintainable, and well-documented systems.
You won't be expected to know everything on day one--but we're looking for someone with a strong foundation and a hunger to learn, ask great questions, and grow fast.

What You Will Be Doing
Roles and responsibilities include:
Develop high-quality software:
Write clean, testable code that passes code reviews and meets user needs
Participate in agile sprints, collaborating with your team to break down and estimate work
Own the lifecycle of small features, bug fixes, and support cases--from implementation through to deployment
Review and discuss your teammates' code to understand the system and strengthen shared ownership
Contribute to Continuous Integration practices:
Help design, improve, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support faster and safer deployments
Build containerized development environments using Docker and similar technologies
Support integration of testing and automation tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins)
Ensure reliable deployment workflows across staging and production environments
Learn, collaborate, and grow:
Participate in team initiatives, retrospectives, knowledge-sharing sessions and communities of practice
Ask questions, seek feedback, and embrace opportunities to level up your engineering skills
Communicate clearly with technical and non-technical audiences, with empathy and humility

Who We Are Looking For
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
Education: You will have a degree in Computer Science or related field.
Programming: You will have a solid understanding of programming fundamentals.
Web Development: You are familiar with both backend and frontend concepts including JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and HTTP.
Version Control: You have experience with Git-based systems such as GitHub or Bitbucket and understand branching workflows.
Testing: You understand software testing principles and the value of test automation in delivering reliable code.
Ways of Working: You are familiar with Agile practices, iterative development, and embrace continuous improvement.
Mindset: You have strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and show a willingness to collaborate, ask questions, and learn from others.
Although not essential, it would be advantageous if you had experience in the following:
Frameworks & Languages: Experience with Ruby, TypeScript, Ruby on Rails, React.
Foundational knowledge in relational databases, specifically PostgreSQL or similar.
Cloud & Infrastructure: Awareness of cloud platforms like AWS and basic understanding of deployment architecture.
Frontend Considerations: Understanding of cross-platform development and browser limitations.
DevOps & Tooling: You have exposure to container-based tools and environments like Docker and are familiar with continuous integration systems such as GitHub Actions, CircleCI, or Jenkins.
Exposure to AI tooling e.g. ChatGPT, Claude, Co-pilot or similar.
