Our client has a growing reputation as one of the most progressive and innovative design led multidisciplinary consultancies in the industry, collaborating with architects, developers and contractors in the UK and globally.
They are seeking an ambitious Associate Structural Engineer to play a leading role in the management of a team and projects within the structural engineering group.
With a background in undertaking the design and project management of structural and civil engineering projects and working on large scale projects, you will possess a strong awareness of the Construction industry, and have strong track-record as a project engineer responsible for management of the design phase, including financial management and control of the design process

Track record in managing a team is desirable and you should have the commercial acumen to assist in key project decisions.


Responsibilities




Managing projects effectively and efficiently Ability to manage a team and effectively plan resource Acting as a key client interface at a technical project level Ability to develop designs from early concept stage through to final construction issue information Attendance at Design Team meetings with Clients, other design collaborators and communicate design ideas through sketches, models and presentations Evaluate project challenges faced by the business and take action to mitigate risks and develop opportunities, with the support of the Associate Director / Management Director. Comply with all aspects of company Quality Management Systems/Procedures Technical support and training to staff Participate in forums to assist in the development of new ideas / innovation to promote and improve the company design reputation Interface with wider businesses within the Group to ensure submissions maximise potential opportunities to offer full delivery of available Services Overall Project Management including program and resource monitoring, quality control, technical management and delivery Reporting on a regular basis to the Senior Management team, ensuring accurate and timely reports of key project deliverables Complete performance reviews, manage attendance, holidays and any staff wellbeing issues as appropriate with the support of HR Assist in the drafting of invoicing forecasts for projects with the support of Management Directors Ensure strong team communication to facilitate exchanges of information and knowledge across the wider practice Support and participate in the company's technical agenda Comply with responsibilities as defined in the Group's Health, Safety & Environment. Policy and ensure compliance with the same throughout the team Preparation and management of Project Execution Plans Preparation and management of the Project Inception Document Representing the business, including related disciplines, at external meetings

Requirements




Qualifications


Good engineering degree Fellow or Chartered Member of an industry related Professional Body i.e. CEng MIStructE / MICE Must have proven leadership and relevant experience of the management and delivery of design for major building projects Experience in the delivery of complete lifecycle projects through to completion Strong foundation as a general practitioner with a clear understanding of interdisciplinary collaboration in building design. Proven ability to work effectively within wider project teams, from concept to construction. Solid knowledge of concrete, steel, and timber design, with practical experience using Eurocodes and British Standards. Demonstrated experience engaging with clients, designers, contractors, and builders, with a track record of delivering high-quality outcomes and fostering strong client relationships. Skilled in resolving technical and operational challenges on complex, high-end projects with a proactive and solutions-focused approach.
Required Skills


Excellent technical background in the design of building structures in all traditional materials Must have a thorough knowledge of UK design standards and documentation practices Good communicator and team worker and be able to demonstrate background in managing and leading projects across a range of industry sectors and geographic locations. Enthusiastic, pro-active and able to work on own initiative. Open to change and continual improvement. A high level of IT literacy is essential together with a desire to nurture and develop the team members to maximise their full potential Proven design and project management experience delivering to quality, time and budget Previous exposure with developers, major contractors, clients of both national and local authorities as well as leading Architects is highly desirable
