Job Description

Birkbeck, University of London, has an excellent opportunity for an Associate Tutor to join Birkbeck's Law School and support the team this coming academic year 2025/26.



As Associate Tutor you will teach across the seven foundational law subjects, and, in particular, support the module:


Tort Law Teaching in person Monday 6-7.30pm and Wednesday 6-7.30pm 3 hours of teaching per week.

This post offers the opportunity to contribute to an engaging module at Birkbeck Law School.




As Associate Tutor, you will have the relevant specialist legal knowledge to teach on the above law module(s). You will be qualified with an LLM (or related postgraduate degree) with either an LLB (or similar qualification that covers the 7 foundations of legal knowledge,) or, equivalent professional experience.



As Associate Tutor, you will have:


Advanced experience in teaching and supporting students on academic and research skills. A track record of student engagement and want to contribute to an impactful and transformational educational experience. The ability able to work both as part of a team and independently as appropriate, and has the ability to support teaching.

Contract

Remuneration





Payment is based on an hourly rate depending on length of continuous service with the College (starting rate 59.91 per hour inclusive of pro-rata London Allowance and holiday pay) for contact hours worked.



This hourly rate is based on the starting point of Grade 6 and is inclusive of a 'Duties Related to Teaching Multiplier' at 2.5, which covers preparation, teaching, administration, assessment marking and other examining duties in connection with the course.
