Baccello is a lively wine and cicchetti bar in the heart of Christchurch, known for our relaxed, stylish atmosphere, excellent wines, and flavour-packed small plates. We're on the lookout for an experienced and enthusiastic

Assistant General Manager

to support the day-to-day running of the venue and help us deliver warm, confident hospitality every time.

About the Role

This is a hands-on position suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced, service-led environment. You'll work closely with the GM to oversee operations, support the floor and bar team, and help maintain the high standards Baccello is known for - from wine knowledge and service to food safety and team morale.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with the daily running of the restaurant and bar, ensuring smooth service and a great guest experience. Lead and motivate the front of house and kitchen teams during service. Maintain excellent food hygiene and health & safety standards. Support with stock management, ordering, and supplier communication. Help train and onboard new team members. Step in confidently to deal with customer queries or feedback. Work with the GM and Head Chef on menu planning, events and promotions.

What We're Looking For

Previous experience in a supervisory or management role within hospitality. Strong leadership and communication skills. A solid understanding of food safety, service standards, and restaurant operations. Confidence in both FOH and BOH settings - wine knowledge and bar experience are a bonus. Calm, organised and a natural problem solver. A genuine passion for hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: From 12.21 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
