About this opportunity





This is an exciting opportunity to develop your skills post qualification in a supportive and nurturing environment. You will be given experience of customers needing moving and handling support, specialist seating assessments. You will do recommendations for the provision of Disabled Facilities Grants for major adaptations such as wet rooms, stairlifts, home extensions, etc, you will assess for and recommend minor adaptations. You will work with customers presenting with a range of conditions and gain experience of doing strength based, holistic assessments with individuals aged 18 to over 100.



During your ASYE year you will have a named mentor within the OT team who will work with yourself and the Advanced Practice Leads to develop your practice within Adult Social Care. On completion of the ASYE you will progress to a grade 11 Occupational Therapist and, through our Career Development Framework you will then have the potential to continue in the Council progressing through the different pay grades as you gain more experience and specialisms.


Who we are looking for...





An enthusiastic, holistic, customer focused and dedicated Newly Qualified Occupational Therapist to join the Occupational Therapy service in Furness.



You will work with customers in their own homes, completing Care Act Assessments to provide functional Occupational Therapy assessments for customers aged 18 and above.



Within your role you will display the skills needed to support individuals to manage their lives independently, using appropriate adaptive techniques or equipment, working with their strengths, interests and networks. You will signpost to partner agencies and work closely with OT, Social Work, Reablement, HAWcs, and Health colleagues to ensure individual's independence is maximised.
