Position Overview



Octave London Ltd is seeking a skilled and experienced

Audio Visual Field Technician

to join our growing Installation team. This hands-on role involves the installation, configuration, integration, and maintenance of premium Audio Visual (AV), Lighting Control, and Smart Home systems in high-end residential and commercial environments. We are looking for a motivated individual who can work independently or as part of a team, with a high level of attention to detail, technical proficiency, and customer service.

Key Responsibilities



End-to-End Installations:

Take the lead or work autonomously on the installation and commissioning of AV and Smart Home systems, including TVs, sound systems, media walls, home cinemas, lighting control, and networking solutions.

System Setup & Calibration:

Configure and calibrate AV components to deliver optimal performance and seamless user experience.

Networking & Infrastructure:

Install and manage networking equipment (mainly Ubiquiti UniFi), data cabling, and structured wiring.

Smart Home Integration:

Program and support Control4 and HDA uControl systems.

Lighting Control Systems:

Install, configure, and support lighting control solutions such as Lutron RA3 and Rako as part of integrated smart home systems.

Diagnostics & Maintenance:

Troubleshoot faults, perform diagnostics, and carry out routine maintenance or upgrades on installed systems.

Project Documentation:

Maintain detailed records of installations, cable schedules, and as-built documentation.

Stock & Logistics:

Assist with equipment prep, stock management, and maintaining an organised van and lockup facility.

Client Communication:

Interact confidently with clients, architects, interior designers, and contractors, providing clear updates and technical guidance when required.

Required Skills and Experience



Proven Experience:

Minimum 2 years' experience in AV installation or a similar technical field.

Technical Skills:

Strong understanding of AV signal flow, cable types, installation standards, and best practices.

Control Systems:

Experience with Control4 or equivalent home automation platforms.

Lighting Control Experience:

Hands-on experience with lighting control systems such as Lutron RA3 and Rako, including installation and basic programming.

Networking:

Confident working with IP networks, routers, switches, access points, and structured cabling.

Cable Termination:

Skilled in terminating Cat5e/6/6a, speaker cables, and AV connectors.

Problem Solving:

Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills in the field.

Health & Safety:

Understanding of on-site safety practices and basic electrical knowledge (LV systems).

Desirable Qualifications



Control4 Certification

or equivalent home automation training.

Lighting Control Training

(e.g. Lutron or Rako certification).

Electrical Installation Experience

(LV) or Part P qualification.

CEDIA Certification

or manufacturer training from AV brands.

Experience in Luxury Residential Projects

and dealing with high-end clients.

Work Environment



On-Site Role:

Primarily field-based across London and the South East, with occasional duties at our lockup facility.

Flexible Projects:

Work includes both first-fix infrastructure installation and final commissioning stages on varied and exciting projects.

Pet-Friendly Homes:

Many of our clients are dog owners. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working in homes with dogs, and ideally enjoy being around them. A calm, respectful attitude toward pets is essential for maintaining a positive on-site experience.

Salary and Benefits



Salary Range:

31,000 to 40,000 per annum, depending on experience.
