An

Audiology Practitioner

is a trained professional who supports the delivery of hearing care services, often working within a clinical or retail healthcare setting. While they are not typically qualified audiologists, they play a vital role in the patient journey by combining clinical support, customer service, and administrative expertise.

Key Aspects of the Role:



Clinical Support



Perform basic hearing health checks such as

otoscopy

(examining the ear canal and eardrum). Conduct

hearing screenings

to identify potential hearing loss. May be trained to assist with

microsuction

(earwax removal) and

hearing aid maintenance

.

Customer Interaction



Engage with patients face-to-face and over the phone. Help customers understand their hearing health and guide them toward appropriate services or products. Provide a welcoming, professional, and informative experience.

Administrative Duties



Manage appointment diaries and triage bookings. Liaise with audiologists, patients, and hearing aid manufacturers. Handle stock management, deliveries, and reporting. Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with clinical standards.

Training & Development



May deliver training to colleagues. Often receive ongoing training to expand their clinical and technical capabilities.

Responsibilities



Manage appointment bookings and triage online and face-to-face enquiries Deliver otoscopy and hearing screenings Liaise with patients, clinicians, and manufacturers Run clinic efficiency reports and take action where needed Deliver training to colleagues and support team development Handle stocktakes, deliveries, and cash transactions Offer hearing screenings promote Hearcare services to optical customers Discuss ear health and audiology basics confidently with customers Maintain clinical and brand standards Perform risk assessments

Skills & Experience



Essential:



Experience in a Health Care role. Experience in reception or admin roles, ideally in a fast-paced healthcare setting Strong customer service skills and multitasking ability

Desirable:



Experience administering basic health checks Liaising with healthcare professionals and manufacturers Delivering training to colleagues

Technical Skills:



Diary management, data entry, stock control Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, email correspondence Telephony, report analysis, triaging, cash handling

Recommended Education Level



Minimum Requirement:


GCSEs (or equivalent)

including Science, Maths and IT.

Preferred Qualifications:



Level 2 or Level 3 NVQ/Diploma

in Health and Social Care, Customer Service, or Business Administration.

BTEC or equivalent

in a healthcare-related subject.
