The role
Reporting to the Statutory Reporting Manager, the Audit/Accounts Assistant will be responsible for providing continuous support for internal and external audit and accounts preparation processes.
This permanent vacancy is based upon 37.5hrs/week, which following a successful training and induction period will operate on a hybrid basis to include a minimum of 2 days per week spent onsite at our central offices in Letchworth.

Key accountabilities
Assist in preparation of ETB's and financial statements of all Group companies.
Support the statutory audit process, dealing with audit requests or queries in an accurate and timely manner.
Assisting in month end procedures and internal audit processes.
Support driving quality assurance, ensuring all tasks are completed in line with policy and profession's standards.
Communicate any problems or contentious issues identified, to management immediately, identifying possible causes and solutions.
Following up on matters raised during the audit, escalating where necessary, to ensure action points are effectively addressed.
Supporting Management with any other ad-hoc duties as required.
Proactively identifying areas for improvement and contribute towards a culture of continuous improvement.
Attend and contribute to department meetings where required.
Skills & experience
Experience of working in a Finance Team, preferably supporting the audit and accounts preparation processes.
Confident in double entry accounting.
Possess a logical and analytical approach, with excellent attention to detail and a good level of numeracy and IT skills (MS Excel is essential).
Ability to work under pressure.
Strong organisational and time management capabilities.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships at all levels.
Working towards AAT/ACCA or equivalent qualification. (Study support will be offered).
