Audit Administrator - 35 hours per week - Monday to Friday

We are looking to expand this team and bring on an Audit Administrator. This role combines administrative support with growing exposure to practical audit work.

About The Role



We are looking for a motivated and well-organised individual to join our Audit department in a junior capacity. This role combines administrative support with growing exposure to practical audit work. It is an excellent opportunity for anyone looking to begin or build a career in audit, finance or professional services.

You will play an important role in supporting our audit teams, helping to prepare audit files, gather information, and perform basic testing under supervision. Over time, your responsibilities will expand as your confidence and technical skills grow.

The position is suitable for school leavers, college leavers, graduates or individuals considering a career change into accountancy.

What are your responsibilities for the role?



Assist in Audit Engagements: Collaborate with audit seniors and managers in planning and executing audits for a diverse range of clients. Financial Analysis: Analyse financial statements, records, and transactions to identify discrepancies or irregularities. Documentation: Prepare audit documentation, working papers, and reports in accordance with established standards and procedures. Testing: Perform substantive and compliance testing on various audit areas, including revenue, expenses, and internal controls. Client Communication: Maintain effective communication with clients and respond to their queries professionally and promptly. Compliance: Ensure that audit procedures are conducted in compliance with organisational, regulatory and professional standards. Learning and Development: Actively participate in training programs and seek opportunities for continuous professional development. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with team members to achieve audit objectives, share knowledge, and contribute to a positive work environment. Deadline Adherence: Manage workload efficiently and meet project deadlines consistently. Adaptability: Be open to taking on additional responsibilities and projects as assigned by senior team members.

Key Responsibilities



Client & Compliance Administration

Carrying out Companies House checks and maintaining statutory information. Scheduling meetings, preparing draft agendas and coordinating diaries. Requesting, organising and tracking client information efficiently. Preparing and monitoring bank and solicitor confirmation requests. Preparing final audit packs for client approval, primarily using digital platforms. Updating template letters, standard documentation and routine correspondence. Assisting with the preparation of simple audit tenders or proposals when required.
Audit Preparation & Support

Extracting reports and financial information from client accounting systems. Entering trial balance data and other financial figures into audit software accurately. Preparing clear audit working papers and lead schedules to firm standards. Supporting teams with general administrative tasks throughout the audit cycle.
Basic Audit Testing & Fieldwork

Attending client stocktakes alongside an Audit Senior or Manager, assisting with count procedures and ensuring accurate documentation of observations. Performing basic audit testing under close supervision. Completing vouching, tracing and bank reconciliation procedures. Carrying out simple analytical review procedures. Assisting with the organisation and review of supporting documents. Gaining increasing responsibility for small audit sections as training progresses.

Skills & Qualities Required



Essential

High level of accuracy and strong attention to detail. Good organisational and time-management skills. Confidence working with numbers and basic financial information. Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications. Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to articulate information clearly and confidently to both senior leadership and external clients. Demonstrated ability to confidently and empathetically communicate complex information to diverse audiences. Ability to follow instructions and work methodically. Professional attitude, discretion and respect for confidentiality. Willingness to learn, ask questions and take feedback.
Desirable

Previous administrative or finance-related experience. Familiarity with accounting or bookkeeping principles. Experience with cloud accounting platforms (training will be given). Interest in pursuing a professional accounting or audit qualification.
