Our West End office is a market leading media specialist office, and we are passionate about the sector. We work with entrepreneurial businesses from individuals, to start ups and large international groups. Our clients are from all areas of the media industry, including media tech, advertising agencies, theatre, and tv and film production companies, and include a number of household names.
Our West End team consists of 13 partners and around 150 staff working in audit, accounting, business advisory, tax and corporate finance, and we all work together to provide our clients with a rounded service to support them at every stage of their business lifecycle.
Our West End office is growing fast, both organically and through acquisitions (more recently Shipleys) and we are looking for an experienced Audit Manager to join our general practice media team. As our client base has grown, the size and complexity of the clients has grown with it and we are looking for an experienced manager with strong technical and organisational skills and excellent project management to manage some of our larger audits.
As an Audit Manager in our Media Team, you will be responsible for a portfolio consisting of large UK and international groups and individual companies, both privately owned and PE backed reporting under UK GAAP and IFRS. You will be reporting directly to Partners and Directors. No media specific experience is necessary, however, at least 2 years' experience managing group and individual audits is essential.
You need to demonstrate excellent organisational skills and the highest technical standards. Interpersonal skills are essential as an important part of your role is to mentor, train and manage junior members of staff, and build and maintain strong relationships with clients.
Key Responsibilities
Day to day contact with MKS team, clients, HMRC and other professional advisors.
All aspects of audit management:
+ Job planning
+ Budgeting
+ Time management
+ Delegating to and supervising of team
+ Subsequent monitoring of team progress and managing projects
+ Detailed review of file, debriefing team with a key focus on feedback
+ Lead client meetings at planning and completion stages and throughout the audit as required Finalisation of file for RI review
Tax Compliance where required and liaising with Tax Specialists
Subsequent submission to HMRC and Companies House
Ability to use IT and knowledge of various packages including Caseware, CCH, Excel, Word and Powerpoint would be useful but not essential
Promoting the interests of the firm with all employed by the firm, clients, prospective clients and other third parties.
Motivation and encouragement of team, providing timely constructive feedback.
All aspects of client billing
Contribute to the Media Annual Survey (Moore Kingston Smith's Annual Survey - Moore Kingston Smith)
Produce training material and present to trainees on a specific media sector topics
Assist with new client pitches and proposals
Awareness of teams in the wider firm and cross selling opportunities by building an internal network
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Relevant Accounting Qualification such as ACA or ACCA.
Expertise in delivery of the primary accounting frameworks (UK GAAP, FRS 101, FRS 102 and IFRS).
Managing the audit for large domestic and international groups, as well as experience in group reporting (both as group auditor and component auditor)
Commercially aware and able to apply and communicate technical knowledge in a clear and commercial way.
Experience managing both people and an audit focussed portfolio for at least 2 [JP1] [JC2] years.
