Role overview


We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Audit Support & Operations Executive to streamline administrative processes and provide operational support to our audit managers. This role is pivotal in freeing up our audit professionals to focus on technical delivery and client engagement, while ensuring the smooth running of audit engagements from planning to completion. From managing logistics and documentation to supporting billing and compliance processes, this role is ideal for someone highly organised, proactive, and keen to contribute to a high-performing team.


Key responsibilities

Workflow & Resource Management



Resource allocation and team scheduling based on capacity and deadlines Maintain and monitor team workloads and engagement status

Engagement Support



Assisting with client onboarding process and tracking Assisting with maintaining and updating client contact details and engagement records Monitor engagement progress and flag delays or issues to audit managers Prepare and track engagement letters and ensure timely renewals Organise pre-audit internal/external planning meetings and audit clearance meetings and post-audit debriefs Track staff availability and holiday schedules Track progress of audit engagements and flag delays or bottlenecks to managers Prepare and submit bank letters, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery

Reporting & Compliance Support



File statutory accounts at Companies House, ensuring deadlines are met Liaise with clients and internal teams to gather necessary documentation for filings Maintain records of filings and confirmations for audit files Sending approvals and final accounts to clients Preparing ixbrl for Tax team after accounts are signed

Billing & Financial Tracking



Monitor Work in Progress and recoverability Assist with billing processes, including drafting fee notes and coordinating with finance Fee proposals Track budget-to-actual fees for each engagement and report variances Maintain fee budgets and support forecasting processes Support timesheet and billing processes, ensuring accurate recording and timely invoicing

Training & HR Coordination



Liaise with the Training &Technical Department and coordinate training schedules for audit staff, ensuring entered on Retain and amendments are updated, and tracking attendance Support logistics for professional study programmes (ACA/ACCA), including exam bookings and study leave planning Support logistics with training coaches and Training Managers Assist with the appraisal process by scheduling reviews, collating feedback, and maintaining performance records and monitoring process Support onboarding of new audit team members Track professional qualification progress (ACA, ACCA, etc.)

Systems & Process Support



Troubleshoot basic software issues or escalate to IT Department Support process improvement initiatives Identify opportunities to automate or improve recurring administrative tasks Support implementation of new operational initiatives and contribute to process documentation

Working arrangements


The working week: 37.5 hours per week per week (Monday-Friday) to be worked from 09:00-17:30 with flexibility of hours to meet specific work demands.


Location: Your principle work based is our Nottingham Office.

Person specifications - Desirable experience and skills

Experience in a professional services or audit environment preferred Strong organisational and time management skills Excellent written and verbal communication Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with audit platforms (e.g., CCH, Inflo, Mercia) is a plus Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently High attention to detail and commitment to confidentiality
