While some audits involve financial processes, most focus on diverse areas from local initiatives to contract management, ensuring robust governance across all council services.

Your Key Responsibilities

Conduct audits to assess internal controls by reviewing documentation, interviewing staff, and testing records Prepare clear, concise audit reports outlining observations and actionable recommendations Present findings and negotiate practical improvements with senior management Manage your workload effectively to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality results Offer ad hoc advice on risks, controls, policies, and procedures

What We're Looking For

Knowledge of Internal Audit principles (training provided if needed) Awareness of risks, risk assessments, and risk management Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking Ability to evaluate data, analyse results, and draw sound conclusions Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to prioritise tasks and work independently Practical judgement and problem-solving skills


We'll provide full training and ongoing development to help you succeed. You'll join a friendly, supportive team committed to professional growth. Our workforce is predominantly remote, with home working as the default. Occasionally, you'll attend meetings or conduct fieldwork at council locations within the boundaries of Lewes District and Eastbourne Borough.
