The Role
We are looking for an experienced and empathetic
Autism Assessor
who is
ADOS-trained
to join our growing neurodevelopmental assessment team. The successful candidate will play a key role in conducting autism spectrum disorder (ASD) assessments for children, adolescents, and/or adults, depending on experience and service needs.
You will work collaboratively with a team of psychologists, psychiatrists, and allied health professionals to provide comprehensive, accurate, and compassionate assessments.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct autism assessments using the
Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS)
and other standardised diagnostic tools.
Contribute to multi-disciplinary diagnostic discussions and formulation meetings.
Write clear, comprehensive, and clinically robust diagnostic reports.
Liaise with clients, families, and referring professionals to ensure a high standard of care.
Maintain accurate records in line with professional and ethical guidelines.
Stay up-to-date with current research and best practice in autism assessment and diagnosis.
Essential Criteria
ADOS-trained
(minimum ADOS-2, with evidence of training and experience).
A relevant professional qualification in psychology, psychiatry, speech and language therapy, or another related field.
HCPC or BPS registration
(or equivalent professional body registration).
Experience conducting autism assessments within a clinical or educational setting.
Excellent
report writing and communication skills
.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable Criteria
Experience using other diagnostic tools such as the
ADI-R
,
3Di
, or
DISCO
.
Knowledge of co-occurring neurodevelopmental or mental health conditions.
Experience working with both children and adults.
Understanding of NICE guidelines and best practice frameworks for autism assessment.
