We're looking for a detail-oriented and technically skilled AOI Technician to play a key role in ensuring the highest standards of product quality through advanced inspection processes. In this role, you'll be responsible for operating and optimising CyberOptics 3D AOI (Automated Optical Inspection) systems, ensuring consistent and accurate inspection aligned with internal standards and wider industry quality requirements.
Initially, you'll collaborate closely with our Process Engineering team to enhance and optimise AOI programming and inspection processes.
As you grow in the role, you'll take ownership of continuous improvement initiatives-- ensuring that inspection capabilities evolve in line with software advancements and production needs.
This is a pivotal position within our manufacturing environment, ideal for someone passionate about quality assurance, innovation, and driving excellence in automated inspection practices.
Responsibilities:
Develop, program, and optimise 3D AOI inspection routines using CyberOptics systems, with a focus on accurate solder joint inspection and component placement.
Perform detailed First Article Inspections (FAI) to validate PCB assemblies against build and quality standards.
Train, coach, and support AOI operators to ensure correct operation of inspection equipment and consistent application of quality criteria.
Analyse inspection results and work collaboratively with Engineering and Production teams to identify trends and provide actionable feedback for process improvements.
Maintain and update AOI programs in line with design changes, new product introductions (NPI), and software updates.
Ensure inspection processes meet internal quality standards and IPC-A-610 requirements.
Participate in ongoing initiatives for continuous improvement, quality assurance, and yield enhancement.
Person Specification:
Previous experience operating AOI equipment (e.g., Koh Young, Mirtec, CyberOptics, Omron, or similar).
Familiarity with SMT and PCB assembly processes.
Ability to read assembly drawings and interpret component placement files.
Strong attention to detail and quality-focused mindset.
Basic computer literacy and ability to use inspection software.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to work independently and follow work instructions
