McKay Pharmacy is a leading family run pharmacy group with a strong community led focus and an ethos of innovation and excellent patient care. We have 3 branches (Belfast / Newtownards / Templepatrick), each situated beside several busy GP practices, and with well established relationships with the local community and local Care Homes.

We are currently seeking a focused and diligent person to operate our Pillroll Automated Dispensing machine within our head office branch on Westminster Avenue, Belfast.

Our Pillroll system is a way for our patients and their carers to manage medication easily, using a tear off sachet delivery system and replacing any need for tray box systems. We operate a highly automated, system driven process, and are continually seeking ways to improve our services and patient care, adopting a unique 'Lean and Improvement' mentality and engendering this within the team. The post-holder will be responsible for the operation of this machine, preparing medications for our patients with the support of the dispensing team, and generating the automated rolls of prescription items. The process will also involve scanning and logging picture evidence of each item dispensed.

The process is technology driven and would be an ideal fit for either an experienced dispenser or Pharmacy Technician who is seeking a new challenge, or someone with a strong Software Driven Machine Operating background and high levels of accuracy and attention to detail who is interested in developing a career within the pharmacy industry. Previous dispensary experience is preferable, but not essential if you have computerised machine operating experience as full training will be given. However, as you will be dispensing medications, you must be willing to undertake a recognised pharmacy services qualification, which we will fund.

Ideally, we are looking for a full-time person to fulfil the role, but we may also give consideration to those seeking part-time hours or a job share arrangement, provided it fits the needs of the business. It may also involve working a late evening shift once a week (working from 12.00 - 9.00). We offer a very competitive hourly rate to acknowledge the high level of technical ability and accuracy required to carry out the role competently.

Essential Criteria:

Proven track record demonstrating a high level of competency in IT systems, with the ability to confidently learn new software Either Software Driven Machine Operation or Pharmacy Dispensing background Must be willing to undertake a recognised pharmacy services qualification, if not already a qualified dispenser / technician Display excellent attention to detail, with high levels of accuracy Be a problem solver, display initiative, a good finisher, with a willingness to learn Must be able to manage a fast turnaround of work Must be flexible and adaptable

Desirable Criteria:

NVQ Level 2 Pharmacy Services qualification (or equivalent).
