This role will be situated in the maintenance team on the Sheffield Site with close liaison with the engineering, IT, operations & Continuous Improvement teams along with external organisations & service providers. You will perform regular planned preventative maintenance on automation equipment whilst ensuring that automated systems operate reliably, consistently, and with the highest safety standards, preventing errors and breakdowns. You will also work across different environments splitting your time between shop-floor work, office-based activities and associated documentation control & record keeping. You will be able to collaborate within a close-knit teams across the business, sharing knowledge, mentoring where appropriate, and contributing to a culture of practical, solutions-driven engineering.

Knowledge & Experience
Educated to HNC level in an engineering discipline.
IOSH qualification
LSS Green Belt [desirable]
Strong analytical skills
Ability to troubleshoot equipment and perform complex system tests
Ability to read technical drawings.
Work proactively managing time effectively.
Ability to work independently.
Critical thinking, complex problem solving, judgment and decision-making, system analysis, adaptability and monitoring skills.
Proficient in MS Office.
Experience with robots [such as Panasonic, OTC, Fanuc]
Experience with Mitsubishi PLCs/HMIs/Drives
Maintaining control systems and ensuring compliance with quality standards & regulations.
Identifying opportunities to increase efficiency with automation.
Installation & commissioning of new solutions.
Undertake automation planned preventative maintenance activities.
Undertakes fault diagnosis & implements corrective actions to minimise downtime, taking ownership of issues.
Identifies the root cause of automation breakdowns and prioritises corrective actions to meet operational processing requirements.
Monitor equipment performance and improve automation outputs in collaboration with operations stakeholders
Identify and work up Continuous Improvement projects from conception to implementation.
Explores and implements new ways to automate systems.
Tests automation equipment and processes.
Identifies & implements upgrades to the PLC & automation control systems
Troubleshoot and resolve issues in existing automation setups.
Continuously evaluate and update automation systems for efficiency & workflow improvement.
Modifies control circuits and program logic to facilitate efficiencies.
Delivery of change management activities.
