What We're Looking For:

We're searching for an Automation Engineer for our UK office in Redcar, and would consider taking on a junior automation engineer in this position for a candidate with an industrial electrical maintenance background that wishes to progress into a commissioning role.

This is a global commissioning role, where the candidate can expect substantial travel on a project dependant basis.

Responsibilities & Tasks:

Commissioning and support tasks can be global so must therefore account for an average of, but not limited to,

120 travel days

. Will be assigned to one or more parallel projects, with multiple projects to be expected yearly on an international basis. Has the overall responsibility for the functionality of the control system in each project, working with the customer to create the required product. Prepares PLC/HMI program and other controls related equipment based on CALDAN guidelines and controls concept while in the office. Support structure in place within the UK, Denmark and Germany for internal assistance. Works in close cooperation with the Controls Project manager, including providing installation reports and continuous feedback and information about any challenges during the commissioning phase. Attends internal projects meetings as well as external project meetings with customers Agrees on signal interface with the SCADA/MES engineer when SCADA and/or MES is part of the scope of supply. Responsible for onsite commissioning from IO test to final handover to customer/end user. Can on larger projects be substituted with another automation engineer, if possible, but this is limited in order to avoid loss of technical continuity in project. Handover to, and training of customers operators and maintenance team. Responsible for handing over 'as built' information regarding IO-lists, layout etc. to the Project Manager. Supply the documentation team with information for the functional description handed over to the end user. Give feedback to the relevant standardisation teams in the Controls Department. Internal knowledge sharing and development.

Candidate Requirements:

Educated as an automation/controls engineer. Preference for electrical and electronics engineering or similar background. Additional preference for candidates with industrial Self-driven, with a positive outlook and good communication skills. Minimum two years of experience in a similar position, or a maintenance background also considered. Confident working alone and being customer facing. Interested in sharing information across the entire organization Used to traveling and planning your own day. Can accept around 120 travel days per year. Working in a structured and safe manner and ensuring tasks are finished to the demanded quality. Experience with either Siemens TIA Portal or Rockwell Studio5000. Ability to speak and write English fluently, other languages such as German are also preferable. Full UK driving Licence Right to work and live in the UK. Must be willing to carry out hands-on work, sometimes out of their normal scope to complete the project. Can work in a global company with ability to sometimes work in a fast paced environment. Willing to undertake further education to allow personal development for the benefit of the company.

Pay: 37,000.00-55,000.00 per year
