Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Automation Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining automated systems to enhance production efficiency and quality. This role requires a strong understanding of engineering principles and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Duties

Design and develop automation systems for manufacturing processes. Conduct root cause analysis to identify and resolve issues in automated systems. Utilise AutoCAD and SolidWorks for creating detailed schematics and designs. Program and troubleshoot programmable logic controllers (PLCs) for various applications. Collaborate with the fabrication team to ensure tooling and mechanical components meet specifications. Implement GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) practices in design work. Oversee plastics injection moulding processes to optimise production efficiency. Engage in continuous improvement projects aimed at enhancing assembly line operations. Provide technical support for welding processes and ensure adherence to safety standards.

Skills

Proficient in root cause analysis methodologies. Strong knowledge of AutoCAD and SolidWorks for design purposes. Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) is essential. Familiarity with CAD software and the ability to interpret schematics effectively. Mechanical knowledge, particularly in fabrication techniques, is required. Understanding of tooling requirements for various manufacturing processes. Knowledge of GD&T principles is advantageous. Experience with plastics injection moulding processes is a plus. A commitment to continuous improvement practices within an engineering context. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment, particularly in assembly and welding operations.
