Role Overview

Qualitest is seeking an experienced

Automation Test Lead

to support delivery into a public-sector programme. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to a proactive, self-starting tester who is comfortable operating independently within an Agile delivery team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for driving the overall test approach across the project, with a strong emphasis on automation, while also overseeing wider testing activities including performance, regression, integration, and tooling strategy.

You will be expected to quickly become a

subject matter expert (SME)

on the project, challenge assumptions, ask the right questions, and provide clear guidance on quality and testing best practices.

Key Responsibilities

Take ownership of testing across the project, operating as the sole Test Lead within the Agile team Define and implement an automation-first testing strategy Design, build, and maintain automated test solutions Oversee and advise on functional and non-functional testing, including regression, integration, and performance Provide recommendations on tooling, frameworks, and test approaches Work closely with developers, architects, and delivery stakeholders to ensure quality is built in from the outset Produce and maintain test documentation, including test strategies, approaches, and reporting Ensure testing aligns with Agile delivery principles and public-sector standards
