Automation Test Lead

to join our

IT Development team,

We are flexible on location - ideally based in Hull, Leeds, Leicester, Birmingham, or Glasgow. Remote working available.

Role Purpose



This is a senior-level position suited to someone with strong automation experience, leadership skills, and a passion for quality assurance in complex digital environments. The role is hybrid in nature, with approximately 30% focused on developing and maintaining test frameworks and standards, and 70% on hands-on automation scripting, manual testing, and integration with CI/CD pipelines.

You'll work closely with Product Owners, Developers, Business Analysts, and other stakeholders to test platforms including Salesforce, Insly Insurance Software, rradar's custom web and mobile apps, REST APIs, and other SaaS solutions--ensuring performance, data integrity, and user experience across the board.

Key Responsibilities



Lead QA automation strategy across multiple product lines Design and maintain scalable, reusable test automation frameworks Define and promote testing standards and best practices Integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines in collaboration with DevOps and developers Guide stakeholders on automation and manual testing approaches Participate in Agile ceremonies and shape test strategy during design phases Coordinate User Acceptance Testing with Business Analysts Develop and execute automated and manual test scripts across platforms Conduct integration, performance, and regression testing Review code and ensure adherence to automation standards Validate data integrity across all testing frameworks Analyse test results, identify defects, and support resolution Maintain test data management strategies

Required Skills & Experience



We're looking for someone with proven experience in a senior automation testing role, who shows initiative and adaptability.

Essential:



ISTQB or similar software testing certificated (preferably in test automation) Strong hands-on experience in automation scripting, preferably across multiple platforms In-depth knowledge of API testing, including tools and frameworks (e.g., Postman) Experience with data migration testing and validation Background in testing mobile and web applications in Agile environments Familiarity with SaaS products and a variety of UI technologies Strong leadership, analytical and problem-solving and communication skills

: Cypress, Selenium, Playwright, Appium, Postman, JS-first UI automation, RSpec, Rails

Languages

: JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Ruby

Platforms

: Salesforce, , Android/iOS mobile environments and modern web UIs

CI/CD

: Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Gearset (Salesforce)

Version Control

: Git

Project Management

: Jira, Confluence, SharePoint

Test Management

: TestRail, Zephyr, Accelq, Keysight, Jira or similar

Desirable:



Salesforce certifications (e.g., Salesforce Platform App Builder or equivalent) Experience with performance and load testing tools (e.g., Scout APM, AppSignal, New Relic) Knowledge of security testing principles Knolwedge of Insly Insurance Software
