PDSL is seeking a skilled and motivated Features & Capabilities Developer to join our clients Propulsion Systems Functional Layer team. This role involves the end-to-end definition, development, and delivery of advanced features and capabilities for electrified propulsion systems using a model-based systems engineering (MBSE) approach. The successful candidate will contribute to system integration, compliance with legislation, and customer-centric innovation in xHEV (MHEV/PHEV) and related propulsion domains.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop Feature Statements of Intent (FSOI) and Statements of Capability (SOC) aligned with propulsion systems strategies.
Own and maintain system artifacts: MBSE models, use case analyses, logical architecture diagrams, FFA/DFMEA/DRBFM, requirements, and test cases.
Translate customer and legislative requirements into robust system targets and ensure continuous updates through programme life cycles.
Design and execute system validation plans, experiments, and Design of Experiments (DoE) for innovative applications.
Perform data analytics on simulation and test results to support system decision-making and compatibility resolutions.
Lead technical discussions, cross-functional forums, and support knowledge sharing across teams.
Essential Skills & Experience:
Proven experience in Systems Engineering within automotive or propulsion sectors.
Technical expertise in emissions, aftertreatment, gas-path systems, and integration of MHEV/PHEV and ICE systems.
Hands-on experience in:
Requirements management and system architecture development.
Model-based systems engineering tools and methodologies.
Calibration, control strategies, and energy management.
CAE and vehicle testing environments (HIL, PIL, VIL).
Complex data analysis using tools like Excel macros, MATLAB, MDA, Concerto.
Knowledge of 8D and Six Sigma methods for issue resolution.
Familiarity with Agile delivery methods and Product Creation Development Systems (PCDS).
Degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
Full UK or equivalent driving licence.
Desirable:
Expertise beyond emissions systems in base engines, HV batteries, torque and thermal energy arbitration.
Experience with Magic Systems/TRM and Simulink modelling.
Familiarity with PHEV/BEV system behaviours and validation techniques.
