Job Overview



We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Automotive Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical knowledge and a passion for providing excellent customer service.

Post: Automotive Mechanic

Location: Tradeston Performance, 23 Kilbirnie Pl, Glasgow G5 8QR

Hours: 42.5 hours per week, however flexibility may be required in accordance with the organisational requirements.

Annual Leave: 28 days

Reports To: Director

Post Summary

You must be able to work on your own initiative and as part of a team. You will be able to demonstrate a high level of ability in all aspects of the trade including general service work, timing belts/chains diagnostics, transmissions etc.

The purpose of the role is to:

1. Repairs, maintains, inspects, and installs machinery and parts

2. Completes diagnostic tests using manual tools and technological devices

3. Works with customers and co-workers to establish a timeframe for the completion of each project

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Works with colleagues or customers to determine the possible source of machinery problems and define what issues need to be solved Conducts thorough inspections and evaluations of problematic machinery or parts to identify issues Utilises technological devices to complete diagnostic tests of mechanical and electrical systems Orders and replaces parts and components and repairs body damage as needed Performs regular inspections and maintenance on working machinery to ensure proper upkeep Cleans, washes, and paints machinery when needed for proper maintenance Maintains detailed records of each machine or vehicle, included any maintenance, inspection, or repair services performed Provides upfront estimates for repairs and maintenance Budgets for current and projected repair projects and calculates costs for parts and labour Lowers costs by taking advantage of warranty and insurance coverage when available Ensures projects are completed effectively and on time Maintains a large collection of tools and devices for repairing and testing vehicles and other machinery Keeps necessary supplies in stock and places orders to replenish inventory Provides excellent customer service when working with the public

Work Experience & Knowledge

Extensive Automotive Mechanical Knowledge Technical Proficiency Safety Management Diagnostic Skills Experience of MOT &Testing (Desirable)
Education & Qualifications

Level 2/3/4 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (Essential)
Skills & Abilities

Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written) Excellent attention to detail Fine Motor Skills Basic Computer Skills Ability to work under pressure and achieve deadlines Accuracy and attention to detail Effective team working Customer Service Problem Solving Critical Thinking
