Hours

- 26.25 hours per week, to include evening and weekend working on a rota basis 4 day on 4 days off.

Salary

- starting at 16,666.65 per annum

Contract Type

- Fixed term for 6 months

What does an Auxiliary Inspector do?

Our Auxiliary Inspectors deal with many different types of calls relating to animal welfare, and will seek assistance and advice from Inspector colleagues where necessary.


Working as part of a team, Auxiliary Inspectors will be involved in regular communication and collaboration with other Inspectors and Animal Rescue Officers.

Overview of main duties and responsibilities

To independently investigate complaints of animal neglect and cruelty as allocated to you from the Animal Helpline, seeking assistance from your Inspector colleagues where appropriate. Alleviate Suffering and Distress to Injured/Trapped Animals by assessing the degree of injury/illness if any and take appropriate action Provide corroboration during any investigation/case which is being carried out by your colleagues Produce high quality witness statements when necessary Carry out normal Animal Rescue Officer duties when required Develop and maintain a good working relationship with colleagues, the general public, other Society Departments and Branches and the following agencies: Police; Veterinary Surgeons; State Veterinary Surgeons; Procurator Fiscal; Local Authorities i.e. Animal Health Inspectors, Housing Officers, Dog Wardens; Coast Guards

What makes a good Auxiliary Inspector?

Should have excellent customer care skills when communicating with all people from all different backgrounds Practical experience with livestock, horses and domestic animals Experience working with the general public with the ability to handle challenging situations Good attention to detail Proficient IT skills A strong interest in and commitment to animal welfare Resilient and calm approach to their role Act with professional integrity Flexible approach to work and ability to work well within a team including willingness to work within group shift pattern Hold a Full UK manual driving licence
