The Digital and Technology service is key in delivering on this vision, with a growing team spanning across all areas of the University\'s digital portfolio. The department is actively engaged in an exciting journey, transitioning from a \'classic\' IT model to a product-structured, user-centric approach to technology. We are investing in our people, and the processes enabled by digital, to evolve and transform the student and staff experience at UAL.

The AV Architect is an exciting new role within the Technology Senior Management Team, where you will champion an enterprise focus for the design of AV solutions and define university wide AV architectural design principles.

You will get the opportunity to lead on the planning, development and implementation of Core AV and Digital Media services across the University, identifying potential solution/infrastructure/platform needs as well as developing a cross UAL network of AV specialists, bringing together ideas, plans and innovation within a strategic roadmap.

About you

Experience

  • Demonstrable experience in AV system design and development
  • Experience of using and supporting AV architectures including digital control, switching solutions and signal processing.
  • Substantial experience of providing Audio Visual technical support in a large, networked environment, and knowledge of networking hardware and protocols, IoT, streaming protocols, video codecs, Dante
  • An understanding in the design and conception of teaching space, the alignment of space design to different pedagogies and best practice in the use of technology (including technologies beyond AV)
  • Experience of working in a Senior Management IT delivery role
  • Experience of adapting services to meet customer\'s needs and identifying ways of improving standards.
  • Strong stakeholder management experience, along with high level, proven inter-personal and communication skills, and an ability to lead, motivate and inspire a team
  • Experience or enthusiasm for emerging XR (AR, MR, VR) is highly beneficial
