Summary:
The AVP, Powerplant IP & Digital Analytics is a key managerial role within the Fleet Management business unit, responsible for consolidating, controlling, and optimising access to all technical, commercial, and financial information ("Business IP"). This includes ensuring data accuracy and availability across the organization and within dependent systems such as EFPAC.
The role requires the effective application of Business IP when analyzing and modelling potential powerplant assets for acquisition by WAML or third-party clients. The AVP is accountable for ensuring that all WAML-acquired engines are managed in line with internal philosophies and quality standards, and that all purchased engines meet contractual technical requirements and are supported by the necessary documentation to maximise asset value and safeguard exit strategy options.
In addition, the AVP will play a central role in delivering the company's digital strategy, ensuring WAML continues to provide market-leading services underpinned by its extensive Business IP.
Responsibilities:
Engine Acquisition Analysis and Management:
Collaborate with the WLFC/WMES trading teams to evaluate engine acquisition opportunities in line with WAML requirements, budgets, and strategic objectives.
Assess current technical condition, status, and predicted work scope for maintenance or return to service with consideration to things such as module swaps.
Develop cost forecasts for upcoming maintenance events.
Prepare financial models to determine bid/purchase prices based on monetisation strategy, market conditions, and financial return criteria.
Produce comprehensive deal papers summarising technical status, maintenance forecasts, financial modelling, risks, and recommendations.
Coordinate internal stakeholder engagement to secure deal approval and closure.
Commercial:
Collaborate with the WLFC/WMES trading teams to evaluate cross business acquisition opportunities e.g. larger packages with some assets suitable for WLFC/WMES acquisition and other that fit with the WAML strategy.
Ensure all technical terms within LOIs, Purchase Agreements, and Sale Agreements fully comply with WAML standards, including certification, documentation, and physical condition requirements.
Confirm that commercial and exit-route considerations are fully understood prior to initiating acquisitions or sales.
Verify that assets presented for purchase or sale meet contractual technical acceptance criteria; escalate deviations appropriately.
Negotiate favorable commercial terms, contracts, or pricing for maintenance activities required for acquisitions or engine repairs.
Work with WASI to supply any parts required or third-party suppliers (if necessary) at optimum market pricing.
Technical:
Define work scopes for engine acquisitions and repairs; manage execution to ensure compliance with WAML quality standards.
Oversee the procurement and validation of engine stands to ensure suitability and documentation compliance.
Ensure all maintenance activities are conducted cost-effectively and in line with work scope, standards, budgets, and exit strategies.
Lead the technical management of all WAML-acquired engines, ensuring serviceability and alignment with the latest technical publications.
IP and Knowledge Management:
Consolidate, structure, and maintain all technical, commercial, and financial data across the business.
Ensure business-critical information is controlled and readily accessible via systems including, but not limited to:
o EFPAC
o Engine Guidelines and Templates
o Training materials and presentations
EFPAC and Digital Solutions:
Oversee EFPAC development, data integrity, and system functionality to support business objectives.
Liaise with AerData/Boeing to ensure the system remains up-to-date and that internal enhancement requirements are implemented.
Support the execution of WAML's digital strategy, ensuring market-leading services are enabled by robust Business IP.
Monitor emerging digital tools and software solutions; identify and evaluate opportunities for integration.
Financial Planning & Budget Control:
Support the VP Asset Management Services in compiling the annual Fleet Management budget.
Deliver the annual operating plan in alignment with business growth objectives.
Manage departmental overheads, including salaries, training, conferences, travel, and related expenses.
Ensure all projects maintain accurate resource forecasts and contract values within WAML's operational system (Deltek).
Quality Management:
Review and propose updates to operating procedures to maintain alignment with current business needs.
Ensure strong quality control across all systems, data, documentation, and materials generated.
Support internal and external audits to maintain relevant accreditations and quality standards.
Ensure consistent adherence to and development of operating procedures.
Company Representation:
Represent WAML at industry forums, conferences, and other external engagements.
Sales and Marketing Support:
Provide technical and financial input into proposal scopes and budgets as required.
Support presentations and meetings for commercial campaigns.
Identify potential business growth opportunities and support the execution of related initiatives.
Management & Reporting:
Provide timely management reporting and coordinate key meetings to support effective business operations.
Qualifications/Requirements:
An appropriately experienced senior individual with a proven track record for all elements of engine management and associated services.
Minimum of +10 years' experience in a powerplant management role.
Experience with engine acquisition modelling desirable.
Degree qualified preferred.
Strong technical knowledge across a number of the CFM, P&W, GE, IAE & RR products.
Strong commercial and financial acumen required.
Computer literate, very proficient with MS Office products specifically excel and have a keen interest in digital solutions.
Competent in project management to ensure timely completion of projects and management of multiple resources.
Experience with EFPAC desirable.
Self-motivated and quality driven.
Strong communicator at all levels.
Able to live and work in the EU or UK/Wales.
Travel/Misc.:
This role can require at times short notice international travel.
Reports To:
VP, Asset Management Services.
The post holder will be expected to carry out any other duties allocated that are appropriate to the grade and nature of this post. Job descriptions will be reviewed and discussed annually in line with the Staff Appraisal Scheme.
