With excellent communication skills, you act as the crucial bridge between our code and our users, ensuring everything runs smoothly.

For this hybrid role, you will ideally be based in the North West and able to commute to as required.

Note: this role requires regular in-person collaboration at our Manchester office (typically 3 days per week - but not limited to). Please only apply if you can reasonably commute to Manchester on this basis.



The Role



We're looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to take ownership of the AWS cloud infrastructure that powers our entire Propeller platform. You'll be the crucial link between our web and mobile development teams and our live environment, ensuring the code they write gets to our users safely and reliably.

This is a hands-on role where you'll be the expert on our cloud architecture. You'll have the autonomy to improve our systems, automate everything you can get your hands on, and make sure our APIs, background services, and databases are running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities



Owning our AWS infrastructure, from the Windows Servers on EC2 and RDS databases to our growing serverless backend. Building out our event-driven architecture using AWS Lambda, Step Functions, EventBridge, and SNS. Making life better for our developers by building and perfecting the CI/CD pipelines that automate deployments for our .NET and C# applications. Keeping our platform healthy & secure, using tools New Relic, CloudWatch and Firebase for mobile, to monitor performance and spot trouble before it happens. Looking out for our key third-party integrations ensuring data flows correctly. Converting manual processes and automating them with PowerShell. Monitoring, testing and improving our failover, backup and disaster recovery plans to ensure we're always prepared. Working with our cyber security lead to ensure the platform meets modern IT cyber security standards.

Essential Skills & Experience



You're a seasoned DevOps Engineer or Systems Administrator who is right at home in an AWS environment. You know the Microsoft stack inside and out (Windows Server, IIS, .NET/C#, SQL Server). You have solid, hands-on experience with core AWS services like EC2, RDS, S3, VPCs, and IAM. You're interested in serverless tech and have experience with Lambda, EventBridge, and Step Functions. You've built and managed CI/CD pipelines before (experience with Jenkins, Selenium or similar is great). You're comfortable managing and securing public-facing APIs and webhooks. You're great at scripting with PowerShell. Experience with Infrastructure as Code (

IaC

) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation

Desirable Skills



A good understanding of message queues. You've worked in an agile team before.
