Overview:

A leading public sector organisation is seeking a highly experienced

AWS Network Engineer

to support the design, implementation, and optimisation of complex network architectures spanning on-premise and cloud environments. You will play a key role in delivering resilient, scalable, and secure network solutions across multi-tenant infrastructures.

Location

: Initial 6 weeks 2 days onsite Newcastle. Followed by x1 a month Newcastle.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and implement complex network topologies in AWS, ensuring resilience, scalability, high availability, and secure multi-tenancy. Configure and manage AWS networking services, including VPCs, subnets, route tables, Transit Gateways, Direct Connect, DHCP, VPC peering, NACLs, Network Firewall, and Traffic Mirroring. Apply deep knowledge of foundational network protocols and concepts, including TCP/IP, routing, DNS, and network topology design. Write and maintain Terraform scripts for network provisioning and deployment, implementing Infrastructure as Code best practices. Troubleshoot connectivity issues, identify root causes, and implement solutions to optimise network performance. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate networking solutions into complex transformation projects.

Essential Skills & Experience:

Experience:

Minimum 15+ years in networking, with extensive hands-on expertise in AWS networking and hybrid cloud environments.

AWS Networking:

Proven track record designing and implementing AWS network architectures leveraging core AWS networking services.

Foundational Networking:

Strong grasp of traditional networking concepts: topology, TCP/IP, routing, DNS, etc.

Infrastructure as Code:

Proficiency with Terraform to automate network deployments.

Troubleshooting:

Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve complex network and connectivity issues.

Transformation Projects:

Experience leading or contributing to large-scale network transformations in enterprise or public sector environments. * SC Clearance desirable
