Job Purpose





An experienced SQL Server Development DBA is required to support Developers in creating, maintaining and improving the SQL server databases, reporting in to the Architecture Manager. We are looking for someone with solid experience in SQL Server database architecture and design who is proficient in ETL/ELT and has a solid understanding of BI tools.

Key Responsibilities




As a Database Administrator, you will:

Manage & Optimise SQL Environments: Tune performance and monitor SQL Server instances across on-premises and Azure environments. Proactively Resolve Issues: Identify and remediate recurring problems to ensure scalability and reliability. Provide Technical Support: Deliver expert SQL support and guidance across engineering and client teams. Ensure Data Integrity: Support complex migrations and conversions while maintaining high standards of data quality. Document & Share Knowledge: Create clear technical documentation and mentor peers across the organisation. Maintain Availability: Perform maintenance, patching, and participate in on-call support to ensure 24/7 uptime.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications



SQL Server Expertise: Proven experience installing, configuring, and supporting Microsoft SQL Server (2008 R2+), including HA/DR. Hybrid Cloud Experience: Solid background in managing SQL in hybrid/on-prem and Azure environments. Performance Tuning & Automation: Proficiency in T-SQL, PowerShell, and database performance optimisation. ETL & BI Tool Proficiency: Experience with SSIS, SSRS, and enterprise-level data integration. Troubleshooting Skills: Ability to resolve advanced SQL issues and support diverse technical users. Collaboration & Communication: Strong documentation skills and experience in Agile team environments.

Desirable (Nice-to-Have)

Experience with Commvault for SQL backup/recovery. Familiarity with CI/CD processes for database deployment. Comfort working in Agile delivery models. Previous experience with 24/7 support on a rota basis. Strong communication skills for end-user engagement and third-party collaboration. * Passion for knowledge sharing and technical mentorship.
