Buttercups Children's Nursery
is currently looking for a
Baby Room Leader
to lead a small team. You will need to be able to provide high quality care and education to young children in a fun and warm environment that encourages children to learn and grow following the curiosity approach. We are a small close-knit team who is looking for someone to join our established nursery.

What will the job entail?
to lead a small group of staff and children aged 2 and under. In the role of our baby room leader
be an excellent key person to a small group of children, ensuring that they feel safe, cared for and welcomed into our setting
plan stimulating activities and set up invitations to play both inside and outside to support learning
complete regular assessments and observations to inform planning for children's next steps of learning and development
work within the setting's policies and procedures to maintain the safety of all children and work as part of a team to safeguard and protect children, whilst allowing them to assess their own risks and take on new challenges
be a team player working closely with the other early year's practitioners
deliver a high quality, play based curriculum responding to individual children's interests and needs following the curiosity approach
work closely with parents, colleagues, and other professionals to ensure that all children are able to reach their potential
ensure records are properly completed, e.g., daily attendance register and accident records
assist with the planning and implementation of the Early Years curriculum. Helping to prepare and set up the environment to ensure it furthers children's learning
help set up the room and help tidy away at the end of the session, ensuring that all toys and equipment are always clean and safe
to attend and contribute to staff meetings and attend relevant training
maintain confidentiality at all times with information regarding the children, their families, and others
to liaise with staff and parents/carers, ensuring the smooth daily running of the setting is maintained. Ensure that all concerns and complaints are dealt with in a professional manner and in accordance with the policies and procedure
attend regular team meetings and supervisions
to promote smooth transitions for children to the preschool area of the nursery.
High quality leadership
staff deployment on a day-to-day basis (indoors and outdoors) in the absence of the supervisor
support the manager in the monitoring of systems and records including: key person system, My Learning Journeys, Individual Education Plans (IEP), Behaviour Support plans, Safeguarding and Welfare concerns
ensuring staff confidentiality is maintained at all times
support the manager with the induction of staff, students and volunteers
support the manager in contributing to regular team meetings.
Your responsibilities
to be a good role model to all staff and children, maintain professional standards and work within the policies and procedures of the setting
to have key children and carry out regular assessments and observations and complete reports and support staff with completing it
to keep up to date with safeguarding, first aid and food hygiene training in accordance with the EYFs.
You will need:
a full and relevant level 3 qualification in childcare
relevant GCSEs in maths and English at C or above with is a grade 4
excellent knowledge of the EYFS
experience of working in a group setting
up to date safeguarding and first aid certificate (preferable)
desirable criteria
experience of leadership within a nursery setting
knowledge and understanding of the curiosity approach
food hygiene - or willing to update.
