The Gym\xe2\x80\x99s pioneering low-cost, no contract, 24x7 business model relies heavily on innovative digital experiences. All our members join via the website and our online self-serve tools are a key part of the member proposition. Our website and app serve well over 1m users each month, and our digital offering becomes increasingly important as the membership base grows, and the health and fitness industry continues to embrace technology , our digital offering becomes more vital.

As an API Developer on our Engineering team, you\'ll lead the creation, enhancement, and upkeep of strong, scalable API connections to diverse external systems.

In this role, your sharp attention to detail and curious mindset will be vital. You\'ll collaborate closely with the design team, including Business Analysts, Product Owners, and Solution Designers. Your focus will be on translating user stories that emphasize business needs over technical aspects.

Our API framework is coded in various C# versions. Your tasks will involve supporting and streamlining current codebases, as well as launching new projects. Our central foundation is built on .NET6, with plans to modernize older frameworks over time.

Your responsibilities extend beyond our API layer. You\'ll be engaged in a broad spectrum, connecting with Payment and Finance Systems, Access Control, Membership Perks, and integrating these with our website, app, and external partners.

We operate with a small, dedicated team that thrives in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational and time management abilities are crucial for accurate estimations and meeting deadlines.

You\'ll receive support from fellow developers, DevOps engineers, and quality assurance leads. They\'ll assist you in maintaining exceptional standards and delivering top-notch outcomes.

As a Back End Developer (C# API Developer) you will:

• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in C# API development and integration, with a strong portfolio showcasing successful projects.
• Proficiency in C# programming language and .NET framework.
• Extensive experience with RESTful API design, development, and integration.
• Solid understanding of software design principles, object-oriented programming, and architectural patterns.
• Familiarity with authentication and authorization mechanisms such as OAuth, JWT, and API tokens.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex integration issues.
• Experience with version control systems, preferably Git.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities, delivering high-quality results within deadlines.
• Previous experience with integrating third-party systems and working with external APIs is a strong plus.
• Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

Desirable skills

• Experience with Microsoft Azure: Demonstrated proficiency in working with Microsoft Azure services, such as Azure Functions, Azure App Service, Azure API Management, and Azure Function Apps. Prior experience in deploying, monitoring, and scaling applications within the Azure cloud environment.

• Experience with Cloud-Based Infrastructure: Hands-on experience with cloud-based infrastructure setup and management. Familiarity with concepts like virtual machines, containers, microservices architecture, and serverless computing within cloud platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure.

• Experience with Messaging Queue Architecture: Strong understanding of messaging queue architectures and experience working with message brokers like RabbitMQ, Apache Kafka, or Azure Service Bus. Ability to design, implement, and manage asynchronous communication patterns for robust and scalable integrations.

• Knowledge of Microservices Design: Familiarity with microservices architectural patterns, including API gateways, service discovery, and load balancing. Ability to design and implement microservices-based solutions that facilitate seamless integration with third-party systems.

• DevOps Practices: Exposure to DevOps practices and tools, such as continuous integration, continuous deployment, automated testing, and infrastructure as code (IaC). Experience with tools like Azure Devops Pipelines, Terraform, or Ansible is a plus.

• Security Best Practices: Understanding of security best practices for API development and integration, including data encryption, secure authentication mechanisms, and protection against common vulnerabilities like cross-site scripting (XSS) and SQL injection.

• Performance Optimization: Knowledge of techniques to optimize API performance, reduce latency, and enhance response times. Experience with profiling and optimizing code for efficiency and scalability.
