Job Description



This role offers the opportunity to contribute to core backend services that support our cloud-based products. You'll work within a collaborative engineering team, building scalable APIs and enhancing platform capabilities. You'll gain exposure to domain knowledge, modern tooling like GitHub Copilot, and cross-team collaboration, while continuously developing your technical skills.




Role Summary




As a Software Engineer (Backend), you will develop, maintain, and improve backend services in line with business and architectural standards. You'll work closely with senior engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions while continuously improving your expertise.

- Build and enhance backend services and APIs used across cloud platforms.




- Collaborate within cross-functional squads.




- Work with modern tools like GitHub Copilot.

This is a hybrid position - you will work 3 days a week from our Newcastle office.


Key Responsibilities

- Develop and maintain backend systems, APIs, and microservices.




- Collaborate with senior engineers and product teams to implement features.




- Participate in code reviews and follow clean coding and testing practices.




- Contribute to system improvements and bug fixes.




- Write and maintain basic technical documentation.




- Participate in Agile ceremonies and team planning.




- Grow toward ownership of components and feature delivery.




Essential Skills (Must-Haves)




- Solid hands-on experience with C#, .NET Framework, and MySQL.




- Understanding of microservices and RESTful APIs.




- Basic understanding of event-driven architecture.




- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.




- Good problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team.




Secondary Skills (Nice-to-Haves)




- Exposure to AWS or other cloud platforms.




- Familiarity with BDD or automated testing frameworks.




- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines.
