This role is for multiple backend python developers to join our development teams, and to work on our REST APIs and internal tools. You will be key to the internal development team and report directly to the Development Team Project Manager and have direct input in how we design and build our tools. You will advise on technology and architecture and on areas for performance improvement. This role will be perfect for someone who wants to work in a dynamic team and to have the opportunity to directly influance the most essential tools within the business. You will be constantly learning and developing new skills and quickly seeing them used and integrated into real business operations. You will be based in our head office in Exeter with some flexible/remote working possible. Please do not apply for this role if you can not commute daily to Exeter. Key Technologies we work with:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, maintenance, and optimisation of REST APIs and other internal tools.
  • Integration with third party APIs
  • Implementation and oversite of event queue systems
  • Query creation and optimization
  • Monitoring and maintenance of systems and tools.
  • Working in Scrums to deliver projects.
  • Writing of other Python tools.
  • Working with the frontend development teams.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • SQL, preferably PostgreSQL and PostGIS
  • Python
  • Python REST API applications.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
Advantageous
  • Experience with mobile app development.
  • Linux stack administration.
  • Experience with AWS DevOps.
  • Experience developing plugins for QGIS
  • Scrum.
