Job Description

An opportunity has arisen for a Transport Team Manager, based at the Defence Logistics Centre, Samlesbury.



Reporting to an Operations Manager, the individual will be responsible for ensuring an effective transport operation and despatch department and is established and maintained to meet all key performance indicators and exceed customer expectations



How will you contribute?



Ensure a proactive approach to Health and Safety Ensure driver and vehicle availability to agreed levels Manage compliance of the Transport Operation based at Samlesbury to include CPC responsibility for the Operation Ensure resource planning, maintenance planning and driver management are at all times in line with current legislation, WTD and operator licence Manage Transport & Despatch team performance Conduct investigatory meetings and Disciplinary Hearings. Reporting of Weekly/Monthly key performance indicators in line with the business requirements Excellent communication to customers/functions attend regular customer meetings Support the strategy of growth including European road transport, global airfreight and synergies within UK road transport Operate within the GXO values To undertake such other duties as may be reasonable required for the effective management of the operation

What will you bring?



The individual must be a CPC National and International Holder Able to provide and understand the need for a high standard of customer service A proactive, flexible and "can do" attitude to resolve issues and challenges Able to manage and motivate a team of drivers and warehouse staff to achieve results PC literate and numerate, with good communication skills, including a minimum of a basic understanding of Microsoft Office as required Demonstrate excellent communication skills Possess a positive attitude and the ability to suggest methods of improvement, being actively involved in improvement techniques Ability to use IT systems in accordance with training provided
