Purpose of the Job:
Based in the Technical Centre. To assist the production of quality bakery samples/products. To learn about the production of bakery products. To identify problems and to communicate them and identify solutions to the team and management.
Results Area:
Assist in devising recipes and product suggestions for advertising & promotions
Creative flair
Assist in the preparation of high quality samples. Including various Biscuits, Cookies, fried goods, flapjacks, muffins, scones, icings, fillings and caramels. For customer submissions and various on/off-site meetings.
Learn the ability to carry out detailed measurements using simple & complex scientific equipment to record results & observations
Learn to support in B&B systems. SAP, Product Micro Nutritional Testing SGS.
Learn the ability to adapt recipes as required using ingredient knowledge
A focus on learning e.g. why and how it works or RCA.
Develop problem solving skills
Self motivated and drive for results - Keen to progress to Bakery Technologist.
Team player, methodical and organised in approach. Prepared to give direct and accurate feedback.
Ability to work independently
Self management identifying opportunities and offering solutions.
Learning how to provide technical support and advice to customers either through presentations, responding to telephone & email queries or by visiting customer or supplier premises
Learning routine evaluation of competitors products
Assist with factory trials and initial production runs as and when required
Assist in the organising and running practical/theoretical product demonstrations & training sessions for internal & external customers
Assist in the provision of specialist QC support; conducting Quality investigations and making recommendations
Responsible for reporting any food safety & H&S issues
Perform duties in line with B&B values
Cover duties of Bakery Support Manager during absence.
NVQ Bakery Level 3 (or equivalent experience)
GCSE Maths & English - ideally grade 4 ( C )
Basic Food Hygiene
Knowledge of bakery products & processes in confectionary and bread.
Some knowledge of raw materials functionality
Competent user of Microsoft Office
