As part of an exciting expansion of our award-winning specialist CAMHS Eating Disorder team, we are looking to recruit a substantive part time Band 3 Senior Health Care Support Worker. This role is vital to the running of our service and supporting our patients and their families.
In the CAMHS Eating Disorders Team, we offer early specialist assessment and intervention using evidence based approaches to young people up to the age of 18 and their family/carers. The team are centrally based at Mawson House, Leicester.
The post holder will support the monitoring and intervention for our patients who are either in treatment or awaiting allocation internally. You will play a significant role in helping us achieve the team vision of delivering high quality, innovative and effective treatments for young people diagnosed with eating disorders.
You will work closely within our cohesive MDT, comprising of psychology, psychiatry, psychotherapy, nursing, occupational therapy, dietetics and family therapy. Liaising with the team to contribute to the overall care package and patient recovery.

The post holder will have an in depth training package to develop skills needed for this role as well as regular group and one to one supervisions to support them and their career progression.
An understanding of mental health and an interest in eating disorders is important for this role. But previous experience of working with eating disorders is not essential.
The service is research active and has engaged in some exciting local, national and international research opportunities.

Summary (Main duties and responsibilities)
Main duties will involve participating in our Monitoring Clinics, this includes:
Physical health assessments
+ Performing and recording electronically a patient's vital signs as directed reporting findings to the registered practitioner or clients Lead Professional i.e. Temperature, Blood Pressure, Respiration, Oxygen Saturation, and Pulse, as well as an eating disorder specific physical health assessment (training will be provided on this).
+ To correctly record and monitor dietary intake of patients, informing registered practitioners of progress and / or any difficulties relating to dietary / fluid intake experienced by the patient.
Mental Health check in's
:
+ Undertake supportive therapeutic observations and record, escalate appropriately, this may be over the phone or in-person
+ Chaperoning the client as delegated in accordance with policy ensuring appropriate support to the patients Monitor and maintain the environment, equipment and resources; perform first line calibration on clinical equipment and manage stock control
Outside of monitoring clinics candidates may need to support our Home Intervention Team, this will involve:
Undertaking supportive therapeutic observations, meal support and distraction techniques in client's Homes or in Hospital settings and record, escalate appropriately to registered practitioners.
