Job Description

We are delighted to have an opportunity for enthusiastic and dedicated mental health support workers to join us and work within a busy and innovative CAMHS Outreach service. This is to offer Home Treatment for young people with eating disorders. Our service operates from 8am - 8pm 7 days a week, across Bristol, South Glos & North Somerset. We are looking a member of staff to cover these areas. Due to the wide patch we cover, ability to travel is necessary.



The roles will include in-house training on eating disorders and their treatment models, such as Family therapy for Anorexia Nervosa (FT-AN), CBT-E and distress tolerance skills.



We will also offer opportunities to access our wider CAMHS training curriculum, alongside regular individual and group supervision. You would be working amongst a skilled, supportive & caring team of registered and non-registered practitioners.



Temporary base is currently in Perry Road, Bristol. Due to being centrally based, there will be a need to walk to the base due to its location and lack of parking close-by. Staff must therefore be physically able to manage this.



The team works alongside community nursing, the acute hospitals and local CAMHS teams.



Main duties of the job



We provide short-term intensive home treatment and in-reach into acute Hospital settings as an extension to a Community CAMHS care package.



We aim to support young people and their families to avoid inpatient admissions where possible and support them with recovery in a home setting. The team currently is made up of a skilled mix of band 7 & band 6 Mental Health Practitioners & Band 4 Support Workers. We aim to work in pairs where possible, however there are times that you would be expected to work autonomously with indirect support and supervision from a registered practitioner.



This role will be working within a specialist CAMHS eating disorder service that offers a real opportunity to develop new skills whilst also increasing your current skills and knowledge base via direct work and training. Providing meal support, psychoeducation and emotional support to young people and their families, affected by an eating disorder within Bristol, South Glos and North Somerset.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities



Promote and champion the rights, values, responsibilities and diversity of people, and act in an open and compassionate way within clear professional boundaries.

Promote and maintain effective communication with people in order to build and sustain positive working relationships with individuals, families and carers, team members and other agencies. This may include accessing translation and interpreting services.

Contribute to the planning, implementation and review of care packages, including implementing specific parts of an individual care plan.

Working autonomously within relevant practice boundaries, under indirect, but not 'direct', supervision of registered clinicians.

Conduct comprehensive assessments of mental health needs and clinical risks.

Maintain accurate, confidential records of patient activity, contributing to a range of written documents as appropriate, including reports, referrals and letters.

Enable people to understand and manage their mental health needs in line with their care plan and relapse prevention strategies. This may include enabling people to manage their own domestic and personal resources, housing needs, and enabling people to access learning / training, or work opportunities.

Support individuals in developing and maintaining their identity and personal relationships, including potentially difficult relationships.
