An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, enthusiastic individual to join the friendly and supportive Cardiology team at West Herts.



The successful candidate will hone their skills in the non-invasive department, work with, and learn from, BHRS Devices accredited colleagues during CIED clinics. High-level training will be provided in the cath labs during coronary intervention cases and CIED implantations.



We are a forward-thinking department and support staff development. Professional development is supported with in-house training sessions. Staff are encouraged to attend external training courses and national conferences. We encourage staff to work towards national accreditation.



The department supports flexible working and gives physiologists the opportunity to work from home.



The post holder will be primarily based at Watford with rotations at St Albans and Hemel Hempstead Hospitals to cover outpatient activities.



The core hours of the service are Monday-Friday 09:00-17:00. Extended working hours may be required during cath lab rotations.



The post-holder is expected to be a highly motivated, enthusiastic individual, using their experience and knowledge to provide a professional standard of care in all areas of invasive and non-invasive cardiology.



The successful candidate will have a BSc Healthcare Science (Cardiac Physiology), or equivalent, and be expected to have a level of skill and autonomy appropriate to the Band 5 level.



The post holder should be team focused, a positive role model, detail oriented and possess good communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.

The main duties of the job include:

Perform and interpret ECGs to SCST standards Fit a range of ambulatory monitors Independent analysis of ambulatory ECGs and produce high-quality reports Perform the assistant role during exercise tolerance testing and quickly progress to the lead role Providing haemodynamic monitoring during diagnostic angiography Gain experience during coronary intervention, pacemaker and ILR implantation cases in the cath labs Support an accredited physiologist during CIED follow-up Interpret and report remote ILR transmission data

The post holder will work in a multi-disciplinary team, including other cardiac physiologists, assistant cardiac practitioners, radiographers, consultants and medical staff, nursing staff and other personnel, either hospital or externally based. The post holder will report to and is accountable to the Lead Cardiac Physiologists.



In addition to the clinical duties highlighted above, the successful candidate will be required to demonstrate the following:

Comprehensive knowledge of cardiac anatomy, conditions and pathologies Maintain a high level of professional competence in the performance of all tests, investigations and measurements carried out under the band 5 remit. Interpret and act upon results of tests, investigations and measurements in accordance with departmental policies and procedures Ability to risk assess patients and escalate results to senior colleagues or medical staff in a timely fashion Comment and contribute to new proposals and protocols, especially for service improvements. * Shared responsibility for quality assurance and improvement of service.
