We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Clinical Research Practitioner working with the Audiology & Otology Research Team. Our team delivers research across specialities including ENT and Audiology. We have a range of exciting studies that we deliver from CTIMPs/ATIMPs, medical device trials and observation studies recruiting patients affected by hearing and balance disorders and other associated conditions.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be a member of the research team based mainly at the Queen Elizabeth and responsible for supporting the research staff. They will be responsible for providing data management, and research administrative support, as needed for clinical study activities. Where appropriate they will carry out or assist with clinical procedures to include taking vital signs, ECG procedures, phlebotomy and the collection and management of tissue or blood samples.
The post holder will be expected to contribute to databases for clinical studies, have knowledge of the clinical research process and be competent in setting up and delivering research trials. The post holder to have excellent IT knowledge, excellent communication skills and be confident in holding discussions with the wider MDT and external partners. They will need to be able to effectively present information to colleagues and demonstrate an ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.

  • *O' Levels / 'GCSE's specifically English and maths at grade C or above
  • *Educated to degree level or diploma level plus relevant experience to degree level in Healthcare, Science or Research.
Desirable
  • *Registered Clinical Research Practitioner (CRP)
  • *Completion of Care Certificate
Experience
Essential
  • *Significant relevant experience in clinical trial /research data management
  • *Experience of research in a healthcare setting
  • *Understanding of current legislation regarding research governance Issues
  • *Knowledge of International Council for Harmonisation of Good Clinical Practice (ICH GCP)
Desirable
  • *Previous experience of line managing staff, completing appraisals and a basic understanding of the HR requirements of managing sickness and absence etc.
  • *Knowledge of National policies, procedures and initiatives or current issues facing the NHS

  • *Self-motivated and able to work under own initiative and under pressure, able to prioritise workload accordingly and problem solve when required
