Job Description

We currently have an opportunity for a Physiotherapist to join our rotations at Ashford and St Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (ASPH).



Applications are welcome from physiotherapy students due to qualify, qualified therapists waiting for HCPC registration or those who already have experience and are looking to embrace something new.



Flexible working requests will be considered at the point of interview.



Our rotations are 4 months in duration and include:



General Medicine and short stay wards



Emergency services and admission avoidance



Critical care



Surgery



Cardiorespiratory medicine



Trauma orthopaedics



Elective orthopaedics



Hyper-acute/acute stroke unit



Neuro-rehabilitation at the Bradley Unit (based in Woking Community Hospital)



Stroke Early Supported Discharge (community-based)



Paediatrics (in-patient and out-patient across 3 sites)



MSK outpatients (across 4 sites)



Pelvic Health



The rotations will offer you the opportunity to work within different settings and with varied MDT professionals allowing you to develop your core clinical skills and interpersonal communication skills.



There is an established formal supervision and appraisal process as well as robust in-house training within each team. The therapies department vision is to develop our own staff to progress their career.



ASPH offers a seven-day service across some teams and you will be expected to participate in seven day working as per service requirements.



Manage an inpatient caseload including using respiratory, medical, neurological and orthopaedic skills



Complete patient assessments in a ward setting, formulate problem lists and provide appropriate therapy input to facilitate a safe discharge



Contribute to board rounds or problem patient sessions to ensure that patients get the right treatment, at the right time in the right place



Communicate with fellow therapists and other MDT members such as nurses, consultants, specialists



Treatment and management of patients requiring post-operative protocols and ensuring that patients follow their elective rehabilitation pathways



Work within a MSK setting, either hospital, community gym or virtual working from home



Clinically assess patients of all ages, create differential diagnosis and shared treatment plan with patients' towards their personal goals



Manage MSK classes and hydrotherapy, both face to face and virtual, to provide evidence based exercise and education to support self-management



Support our orthopaedic clinics that include ponseti, DDH and serial casting treatment



Actively participate in regular supervision and service development, and take personal responsibility in your professional development and professional registration requirements



Show passion for providing a high level of care and safeguarding to patients known to our service



Have the ability to use initiative, communicate with empathy and be an effective team player

Health, safety and security



To complete relevant risk assessments and associated documentation/action.



To demonstrate physical ability to carry out physiotherapy assessments and interventions including manual physiotherapy techniques. This involves frequent light to moderate physical effort.



Education



To participate in the professional development and training of self and other therapists.



To undertake clinical reasoning and problem patient sessions.



To participate in relevant training sessions as a recipient and facilitator.



Research/Audit/Quality



To evaluate your own clinical effectiveness.



To undertake and present relevant evidence based projects.



IT



To be responsible for the accurate input of clinical information onto the trust IT system.

To ensure confidentiality at all times.



To take part in the weekend service on a rota basis as required.
