The post holder will work as part of a multidisciplinary primary healthcare team (MDT) delivering primary healthcare nursing including elements of occupational health. The post holder will work with the Senior Practice Nurse or Senior Medical Officer within the medical facility (MF). Depending upon qualifications and experience the post holder will be responsible for the delivery of appropriate assessment treatment, screening and advice to patients within their professional competence and in accordance with Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) clinical guidelines and protocols. The post holder will provide high-quality person-centred care which always considers peoples safety, privacy and dignity using advanced clinical knowledge that is evidence based.
The post holder will monitor and improve standards through supervision, evidence-based practice, clinical audit, research and education. The post holder will act as a role model, delivering high quality practice and promoting clinical effectiveness in care. The post holder will have training and clinical supervision responsibilities for Healthcare Assistants (HCAs) and Military Medics. The post holder will work within the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code of Professional Conduct and adhere to all NMC standards and Ministry of Defence (MOD) /DPHC policies and guidelines.
For patients with relatively stable health needs, provide appropriate assessment of their needs, developing individual plans of care. Implement and evaluate individual planned programmes of care Triaging and treating minor injuries/illness as per agreed evidence based practice, Patient Group Directions (PGD) and adhering to agreed policies and guidelines Provision of technical nursing treatments e.g. Venepuncture, Electrocardiograms (ECGs), Eye and Ear Care, Wound Management/Dressings, Suture Removals, assisting the Medical Officer with Minor Surgery. Administering immunisation and monitor medications consistent with Surgeon General Policy Letters (SGPL), Director General Army Medical Services (DGAMS), Defence Primary Health Care (DPHC) policy, Patient Group Directions (PGDs), standards, and legislation Please see the attached and Person Specification for additional job duties and responsibilities.
